📖 Word/Phrase - sounds gucci

Not related to programming BUT I heard it used the other day and thought, “I bet most non-natives haven’t heard this before.”

It’s the same as saying “sounds good” but it’s more fun. Try using it with a coworker next time on a video call and see how they react!

💬 Pronunciation - Critique of Argentinian Developer

English Byte community member Pablo lives and works in Italy but is originally from Argentina. So not only is he working to improve his English but also his Italian!

🗣️ Real World Conversation - Put Yourself Out There

If you are serious about landing a remote dev job, one of the best things you can do is put yourself out there.

By that, I mean learning or building in public — in English.

This weekend, I was finishing up a little project and googled “vercel namecheap domain.” One of the first results was this blog post. I read and thought, “Amazing! This is exactly what I was looking for.”

After, I looked for the author’s Twitter to send him a message and thank him. And guess what? Turns out he is a non-native English speaker from Mexico!

But that’s the thing…He helped me solve my problem and English isn’t even his first language!

That’s what I mean by put yourself out there. You never know who will find you. And who knows? It might even turn into a job opportunity 😉

🔗 Content - The Whiteboard Guy

Have you heard of Ben Holmes? He makes fantastic coding videos and uses a whiteboard to explain complex topics.

He’s a native English speaker (I believe he’s American) and you’ll definitely learn a thing or two about web development from him.
